BLOCK PLAN - Four lesson Volleyball Unit Plan for Grade 8 Level Co-ed Class.

    The following lessons are appropriate for a Grade Eight level volleyball.  These plans are an outline for a volleyball unit based on progressions.  Depending on the response of students this progression could be adapted.  Links on block plan go to task/game explanation including teaching points, organization and diagram.
 
 

Lesson 1
Tactical Problem
Setting up to attack:  receiving the ball and making an accurate forearm pass to set up and complete an attack. 
Lesson focus: Importance of proper positioning to receive a pass.

Skill objective: Reception and completion of a forearm pass.

Introductory task/game

 Two-person Wall Volleyball.

Lesson 2
Tactical Problem
 Changing the direction and distance of a pass when performing a volley (overhead pass)to gain an advantage over an opponent.
Lesson focus: Passing the ball using the volley.
 

Skill objective: Passing the ball in an overhead position with control and accuracy.

Tactical Problem
 Setting up to attack.
Lesson focus: Accurate forearm pass, setter overhead pass and open up.
Skill objective: Accurate forearm pass to the setter.  Setter opens up and sets to a target.
